Collaborative Research
Abstract:
This project is contains information on school lunches compared to McDonald's food. The information has the standards from the United States Department of Agriculture and whether or not it is upheld in school lunches and McDonalds food. This project is to decide whether school lunches are healthier than McDonalds. While this project contains information on school lunches on its own we decided that we needed to concentrate on one district. We use the Voorhees Township Schools and what they serve in their schools. This information is validated with an employ. Carmen Angelotti adds insight to the inner workings of Osage Elementary School. She gives details on how their food is prepared. From her Oral History we were able to gather how healthy the school’s food is. McDonalds is evaluated in this project through the USDA standards. We especially concentrate on McDonald Happy Meals. Since there are combinations of Happy Meals that are healthier, we are going to look at how healthy all of them are. In this project we match the USDA standards with the Voorhees Township Schools versus McDonalds. Once our research is complete we will be able to decide if their school lunches are healthier then McDonald’s food.
Introduction:
In today's society, health concerns are on the rise. Regardless of age, people need to watch what they eat these days. Since children spend half of their day in school, we thought it would be a good idea to look into how food is served. With this being said, school lunches are a concern for some parents around the country since they blame schools for making their child overweight. However, McDonald's, one of the largest fast food giants, is a larger issue considering how many calories they put into their food (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Parents don't realize that school lunches can be much healthier to serve to children than McDonald's.

Afterword:
After all our extended research in both the Voorhees School District and McDonald's, we have learned a great deal with the health standards for each. Each have their own ways of serving, producing, and serving their food to the public. In both locations, we mainly concentrated on the health concerns of the same age. We learned that school lunches have high standards in how they choose food and serve it to the students. However, McDonald's has always had difficulty meeting the United States Department of Agriculture standards. In the end, the school lunches met the requirements of the USDA more so than McDonald's. When we started out, our research question was "Are school lunches healthier than McDonald's." Our collaborative research confirmed to us that school are healthier than McDonald's.
